The 2016 Republican National Convention is coming up on July 18, and the party will formally announce their presidential nominee. After the last year of debates, tweets, protests, and a media swarming to cover it all, the RNC is set to deliver businessman and former reality TV star Donald Trump as the Republican Party's presidential candidate. With the convention coming up, the list of speakers has been announced, and the schedule of the 2016 RNC speeches might be surprising to some, considering the event will represent Trump's inauguration into American politics.
This year's speakers and schedule are broken down in some thematic way. According to the New York Times, each night's speaker schedule will focus on a specific issue. Their schedule notes the first night will focus on Benghazi and undocumented immigration, the second night will focus on the economy, and the final two nights will be a mix of speakers who will touch on the focuses of the event, which are national security, immigration, trade, and jobs. Over the course of the four nights, Trump's speakers will represent family, politicians, sports players, and entrepreneurs, among others.
But when it comes to the schedule, there is no sign of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who endorsed the former reality TV star in January in a "right wingin', bitter clingin'" endorsement speech that she delivered from Iowa.
CNN reported, "Donald Trump made it very clear. This was going to be a different convention than what we're used to." And different it will be, indeed. Some of the speakers scheduled for the event were set to include former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow; Trump's wife, Melania, and children Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, and Donald Jr.; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi will all speak, as well. However, on Thursday night, Tebow clarified that he will not actually be speaking at the event, noting, "It’s amazing how fast rumors fly. And that’s exactly what it is. A rumor," according to the New York Times.
