Jason Momoa is trading in his surfboard for swords in the "Conan the Barbarian' remake.
LionsgateBefore he was the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger was Conan the Barbarian. The 1982 film wasn't in the same league as some of Ah-nold's bigger hits, but it remains a cult favorite. Today, the first trailer for the remake, starring the formidible Jason Momoa in the title role, hit the Web.
Momoa, who will receive CinemaCon's Rising Star of 2011 Award, may be best known for his work on "Stargate: Atlantis" and "Baywatch." Several years ago, Momoa and Lisa Bonet made news after they named their child Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa. Momoa's mother later explained that Nakoa means "warrior."
Should Momoa's version of "Conan the Barbarian" be a hit, interest in the actor with intimidation to burn is sure to rise. Indeed, he's already surging in the Search box. Over the past seven days, online lookups for "jason momoa" have flexed their muscles, jumping 44%.
